As they say in Venice, "Ogni Scherzo Vale" (Anything goes!) during Carnevale...
The theme this year was Carnevale di Venezia—and the evening was replete with play—from the young jugglers passing clubs in our lobby during the cocktail hour and auctioneer Matt Lorch’s games of chance, to the array of fantastic—and sometimes fantastical!—confections up for grabs during the dessert dash.
But it was you, our friends and dear supporters, who were the best part of the evening. From the moment we opened our doors, you brought the party to life. We loved all the masks, capes, dresses, hats and more that turned our lobby into a Venetian palazzo—where anything could happen!—for a night.
Your generosity blew our fundraising goal right out of the water—or should we say the Grand Canal—raising almost $400,000 towards Meany Center’s mission to provide opportunities for diverse artists, community, students and faculty to connect, explore, discover and embrace the boundless power of the arts.
We are grateful to Leah and Natasha Grossman; Ilga Jansons and Mike Dryfoos; Leslie Kincaid; Chesley Owen; Margaret Rothchild; Maryann Tagney; Tom Douglas; Macrina’s; Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes; Seattle Culinary Academy and La Spiga for donating desserts that were so mouth-watering they brought in more than $14,000 all by themselves!
Many thanks to our gala co-chairs, Marcie and Dave Stone and to our entire board for their tireless support. We are thankful for our corporate sponsors The Boeing Company; Banner Bank; Davis Wright Tremaine; Goldman Sachs; Hillis Clark MarPeterson; and Summit Law Group.
And mille, MILLE grazie to everyone who donated to Center Stage: Your enthusiasm and heartfelt support of Meany Center makes everything we do possible.
