The phenomenal Dover Quartet has enjoyed a meteoric ascent from up-and-coming young quartet to one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The Dover is joined by bass-baritone Davóne Tines in a powerful collaboration of works for voice and string quartet by Caroline Shaw and Samuel Barber. The “charismatic, full-voiced” (The New York Times) Tines is the only singer besides the composer to perform By and By, Shaw’s work of Appalachian-inspired themes. Barber’s atmospheric evocation of the sea, Dover Beach, showcases this rising opera star in concert with the Quartet.
Lovers of chamber music should put the Dover Quartet on their to-hear list.
