Recognized as one of the world’s great ensembles, the award-winning Takács Quartet is known for “making the most traditional of works feel radical once more” (The New York Times). Formed in Budapest in 1975, they have received accolades for their passionate, committed performances, including induction into Gramophone’s Hall of Fame. The Takács plays with excitement and warmth, bringing fresh insights to a program that crosses the centuries with quartets by Haydn, Debussy and Britten.
Even in the most fiendish repertoire these players show no fear, injecting the music with a heady sense of freedom.
