Our Donors Take Center Stage

March 14, 2014

Whenever the lights go down in Meany Hall, magic happens on stage.

Generally, it’s the performers we invite from all over the world who bring the magic—but last Friday night more than 80 World Series supporters made their debut at our first annual benefit dinner, Center Stage, and we think their generosity deserves a standing ovation.

Held, literally, at center stage of Meany Hall, the event featured a performance by Van Cliburn silver-medalist Joyce Yang, who had performed earlier in the week as part of the President’s Piano Series. Not only is she a phenomenal pianist, she is a charming dinner companion as well, as those lucky enough to be seated at her table soon learned. The food (by Ten Mercer) was delicious; the speakers poignant—and the exclusive sneak-peek of next season’s 2014-2015 lineup scintillating (more on that to come!).

But the undisputed stars of the evening were our dear friends and donors, who in the space of about eight minutes raised almost $100,000 in support of UW World Series artistic and educational programming.  We are more grateful than we can say, and look forward to an encore performance next year, and for many years to come. In the meantime, we invite you to take a look at some pictures of the night’s revels.
