Inspiring the next generation of creative thinkers: The arts help students make intellectual leaps, forge interdisciplinary connections, understand multiple perspectives and adapt to rapid change. Meany Center supports creativity in UW  students and faculty in a variety of ways.

Introducing young audiences to the arts: Our FREE Student Matinee program  gives Seattle area students — many  on their first trips to the UW campus — a one-hour, interactive Meany Hall performance. 

Engaging communities: Meany’s visiting artists continue to connect with communities on and off campus. Meany Center will announce participatory events — including K-12 in-school residencies, community workshops, conversations and celebrations —on our website and with our local partners throughout the year.

For the 2025–26 Season, Peter Sellars — a pivotal figure in contemporary theater and opera, renowned for his innovative and provocative interpretations of classic works —  joins Meany Center as Artistic Partner.
