Hailed by The New York Times as “invariably energetic and finely burnished…playing with earthy vigor,” the Catalyst Quartet, prize-winners of the Gianni Bergamo Classical Music Award 2012, is comprised of top Laureates of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition. The mission of the ensemble is to advance diversity in classical music and inspire new and young audiences with dynamic performances of cutting-edge repertoire by a wide range of composers. Founded by the Sphinx Organization, the Catalyst Quartet combines a serious commitment to education with a passion for contemporary works.

Night of Strings

Free and open to the public.

 

A bi-annual event, Night of Strings will feature student groups from Leschi Elementary/Seattle Music Partners, Eckstein Middle School, Chief Sealth High School, Roosevelt High School/Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, and UW's Music Link program. Joined by the Catalyst Quartet, the musicians will play selections from their own repertoire and will premiere a newly composed piece by Catalyst Quartet member Jessie Montgomery, inspired by a creative workshop with Leschi 5th grade strings students.

 

The Night of Strings is presented in partnership with the Catalyst Quartet, Seattle Music Partners, Leschi Elementary School, Roosevelt High School, Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, University of Washington School of Music, Seattle Youth Symphony and ArtsUW and has been made possible with support from Chamber Music America through its Residency Endowment Fund.
