An international phenomenon since 1981, the percussion ensemble KODO explores the limitless rhythmic possibilities of the traditional Japanese taiko drum. The company plays a variety of instruments, but it’s the massive drums weighing as much as 900 pounds and the extraordinary physicality required to play them that mesmerize audiences. The first Japanese artists to perform at a Nobel Peace Prize Concert, KODO transcends languages and cultures to forge new directions for a vibrant living art form.
