Meany Hall – Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater

This “mind-blowing troupe of wildly creative and physically daring dancers” (NY Newsday) tests the limits of human physicality. Performing for 300,000+ people each year, Pilobolus has been honored with a TED Fellowship, a Grammy nomination, a Primetime Emmy Award and several Cannes Lion Awards. In their new show, Come to Your Senses, the company unravels the mystery of the origin of life, explores the beauty and strength of human connection, and celebrates our orientation in the biosphere.

Come to Your Senses is inspired by the company’s collaborations with Radiolab and MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, and includes a brand-new work made with collaborator Thao Nguyen, host of the podcast Song Exploder. The work combines dance, video and theater to create a journey through diverse worlds, each with its own atmosphere, characters and emotional tones, accompanied by a score performed live by the UW Chamber Singers.

NOTE: Come to Your Senses replaces the previously announced program, Time and the Creative Cosmos with Brian Greene. Brian Greene will not be performing on the new program.

Pilobolus combines the laws of physics with a daring artistic eye to create sensual, gravity-defying choreography that has changed the look of modern dance.
