In this feature presentation documentary, Camille A. Brown & Dancers uses theatricality and the aesthetics of modern dance, hip hop, African, ballet and tap to tell stories — with energy and urgency — that connect history with contemporary culture. Brown, a 2016 Guggenheim Fellow and Bessie Award winner, has created dances for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Urban Bush Women and is known for imaginative works that address issues of identity and social justice.
Watching Camille A. Brown dance in person for the first time is like observing a hummingbird in nature…Brown is a storyteller, with many tales to tell.
